Student Archivist Interns

Walk With Web Inc. (WWW) is seeking two enthusiastic and detail-oriented students from Fourah Bay College to join our research team as Student Archivist Interns. This internship provides an exciting opportunity for students to enhance their skills and gain hands-on experience in digitization, creation of metadata, and cataloguing.

Responsibilities:

● Create metadata for archival materials using established British Library standards
● Assist with digitization of archival materials (scanning, file naming, quality checks)
● Support cataloguing and organization of physical and digital collections
● Follow archival best practices for handling fragile materials
● Maintain clear documentation of workflows and decisions and communicate progress regularly
● Contribute to the development of the Sierra Leone Public Archives website that benefits researchers, students, and the general public. 

Qualifications:

● Current student at Fourah Bay College in the Department of Information Studies and Knowledge Management (Preferable area of study: Records Management and Archives Administration, or related disciplines).
● A genuine interest in archives, digitization, metadata, and cultural preservation
● Basic computer proficiency, including file management, word processing, and spreadsheets
● A commitment to follow standards, guidelines, and workflows for metadata creation and digitization
● Willingness to learn and apply metadata standards and archival best practices
● Strong communication and collaboration skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team

● Once nominated, candidates will undergo an interview process by Walk With Web Inc. before the final selection.

For Students
All interns must submit the nomination package (all application documents listed below) to the Internship Coordinator, John Sannoh of Sierra Leone Public Archives (info@sierraleonepublicarchives.gov.sl), by Jan 23, 2026. SLPA will then forward the nominations directly to Walk With Web Inc.

Applicants are responsible for ensuring their nomination packages are complete. The nomination package must include one (1) single PDF file with the following documents attached in the order listed below:

1. Cover Letter by Student outlining their motivation to participate in the internship. What they expect to learn and how they want to contribute. (Max. 1 Page)
2. CV (Max 5 Pages)
3. Transcript unofficial but verified by Fourah Bay College.
4. Government-issued ID Proof, Passport preferred.

Fourah Bay College must nominate at least two (2) and a maximum of five (5) students for each position. Since two positions are open for this call, Walk With Web Inc. will expect at least four (4) nominations and a maximum of ten (10).

The nomination should be submitted in 1 email with two (2) attached files for each nomination. Each nomination forwarded to Walk With Web Inc. must include:
1. Nomination Package (4 Documents submitted by students)
